A mixture of racemic (2′S,3S,4′R)-6-chloro-4′-[5-chloro-2-(1-methoxycarbonyl-1-methyl-ethoxy)-phenyl]-2′-(5-methyl-2-methoxy-phenyl)spiro[3H-indole-3,3′-piperidine]-2,6′(1H)-dione (100 mg, 0.167 mmol), NaOH (33.5 mg, 0.837 mmol), H2O (2 mL) and methanol (3 mL) was heated at 70° C. for 1 h. Then methanol was removed by vacuum and the aqueous solution was acidified to “pH” 1-2 by addition of concentrated HCl aqueous solution. The precipitate was collected by filtration and washed with CH2Cl2 twice to give the title compound as a white solid (21 mg).
