To a suspension of 5-Fluoro-6-[1-hydroxy-2-[4-hydroxy-4-(3-methoxyphenyl)-1-piperidinyl]ethyl]-3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-one (216 mg, 0.522 mmol) in methanol (5 ml) was added 4N HCl-AcOEt (137 μl, 0.548 mmol) and the mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was crystallized twice from 2-propanol to afford 5-Fluoro-6-[1-hydroxy-2-[4-hydroxy-4-(3-methoxyphenyl)-1-piperidinyl]ethyl]-3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)-one hydrochloride as a white solid (190 mg, 81%).
