A mixture of trimethylsulfoxonium iodide (2.402 g, 10.91 mmol) and sodium hydride (0.436 g, 10.91 mmol) in THF (20 mL) was heated at 55° C. for 3 h then a solution of compound 87 (2.82 g, 8.73 mmol) in THF (10 mL) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 36 h, quenched with water, extracted with ether and the combined organics were washed with water, brine, dried over Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated to afford compound 88 used as a crude in the next step.
