A solution of 3-[(3,5-diamino-6-chloro-pyrazine-2-carbonyl)-amino]-1-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-1-[3-(4-methoxy-phenyl)-propyl]-piperidinium chloride (Example 3.1, 30 mg, 0.06 mmol) in hydrochloric acid (6 M, 1 mL) is heated at 60° C. for 36 hours. Volatiles are removed by freeze-drying. The resulting amorphous solid is triturated with diethyl ether and dried under vacuum at 50° C. Yield: 21 mg. IC50>1 μM
