To a solution of 29 (9.85 g, 20.6 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (100 mL) was added Dess-Martin periodinane (9.61 g, 22.6 mmol). After 30 min, water (75 mL) and saturated Na2S2O4 solution (75 mL) was added. The mixture was stirred vigorously for 30 min. The layers were separated, and the aqueous layer was extracted with CH2Cl2. The combined organic layers were dried, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The crude material was purified by column chromatography to give 8.32 g of 30. 1H-NMR: 400 MHz, (CDCl3) δ: 7.91 (s, 1H), 4.40 (q, 2H, J=7 Hz), 2.49 (s, 3H), 1.39 (t, 3H, J=7 Hz). LCMS-ESI+: calc'd for C13H10BrF3NO6S2: 475.9 (M+H+); Found: 476.1 (M+H+).
