MnO2 powder (0.87 g, 10 mmol) was added to a solution of (3-fluoro-phenyl)-(8-nitro-quinolin-7-yl)-methanol (Intermediate 344) (0.3 g, 1.01 mmol) in DCM (20 ml) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 h. The mixture was filtered through celite and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound (0.25 g, 85%) which was used in the next step without further purification.
