To trifluoroacetic acid (2 mL, 26.0 mmol) was added ethyl 1-(2,4-dimethoxybenzyl)-6-((1,3-dioxoisoindolin-2-yl)methyl)-2,4-dioxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate (198.9 mg, 0.403 mmol) at 0° C. The mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 1 h, then at RT for 6 h. The mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue was washed with IPE (5 mL) to give the title compound (183.3 mg). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ ppm 1.42 (t, J=7.2 Hz, 3H), 4.45 (q, J=7.2 Hz, 2H), 4.98 (s, 2H), 7.78-7.81 (m, 2H), 7.91-7.93 (m, 2H), 8.19 (br s, 1H), 8.96 (br s, 1H).
