To a solution of tert-butyl 7-(4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline-2(1H)-carboxylate (1.4 g, 3.7 mmol) in DCM (3 was added 4.0M HO in dioxane (4.6 mL, 18.56 mmol) and stirred at rt for 3 h. Diethylether (200 mL) was then added and the mixture was stirred at rt for 30 min and then filtered and washed with diethylether and dried to give the title compound (1.3 grams).
