To a solution of ethyl 3-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole-5-carboxylate (1.7 g, 5.6 mmol) in EtOH/H2O (30 mL), 1 M NaOH (8.4 mL, 8.4 mmol) was added at RT. The mixture was stirred at RT for 1 h, and concentrated under reduced pressure to afford sodium 3-(4-(trifluoromethoxy)phenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazole-5-carboxylate (1.6 g, 96%) as a white solid, which was directly used for next reaction without further purification.
