Reaction Steps
A solution of thionyl chloride (10 mL) and 3-methyl-4-oxo-2-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-3,4-dihydroquinazoline-8-carboxylic acid 33 (1.00 g, 2.87 mmol) was heated at reflux for 1 h. Upon cooling to room temperature, all volatiles were removed under vacuum, to give 34 (1.05 g, 100% yield) as a white solid.
