A mixture of ethyl 6-(bromomethyl)-2-(thiazol-2-yl)-4-(2-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)-1,4-dihydropyrimidine-5-carboxylate (3.8 g, 8 mmol), morpholine-3-carboxylic acid hydrochloride (2.62 g, 16 mmol) and potassium carbonate (4.2 g, 30 mmol) in ethanol (130 mL) was stirred at 25° C. for 12 hours. The resulting mixture was filtered and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by a silica gel column chromatography (DCM/MeOH (V/V)=30/1) to give the title compound as a yellow solid (2.1 g, 50%). The compound was characterized by the following spectroscopic data:
