To a solution of (R)-tert-butyl 3-((6-chloro-5-cyanopyridin-2-yl)(methyl)amino)pyrrolidine-1-carboxylate (0.45 mmol) in MeOH (20 mL) was added the solution of NaOMe (0.9 mmol) in MeOH (2 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours, then heated to 50° C., stirred for another 2 hours, then stirred at reflux overnight. The mixture was concentrated, diluted with EtOAc, washed with brine, dried, filtered, and concentrated to give the title compound.
