Following a procedure analogous to that for the synthesis of Intermediate 137, 4′-chlorobiphenyl-3-amine (ChemBridge, 285 mg, 1.40 mmol) and butyraldehyde (125 μL, 1.40 mmol) were converted to the title compound (300 mg, 74%). 1H NMR (CDCl3) δ 7.73-7.62 (m, 2H), 7.57-7.44 (m, 3H), 7.43-7.34 (m, 2H), 7.29-7.19 (m, 1H), 3.04-2.96 (m, 2H), 1.67-1.59 (m, 2H), 1.47 (dd, J=15.1, 7.4 Hz, 2H), 0.99 (t, J=7.3 Hz, 3H); MS (ESI+) m/z 260.2 (M+H)+.
