The mixture of 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde (2) (0.067 g, 5 mmol) and Mg(ClO4)2 (0.12 g, 5 mol %) was stirred for 10-15 minutes in anhydrous toluene (5 mL), after which time 6-methoxybenzo[d]thiazol-2-amine (1) (0.1 g, 5 mmol) and diethyl phosphite (0.076 g, 5 mmol) were added, and the reaction mixture was refluxed for 3 hours followed by usual workup and chromatographic purification [silica gel:EtOAc-Dichloromethane (8.5:1.5) as eluent] afforded the dimethyl ((4-hydroxyphenyl)((6-methoxybenzo[d]thiazol-2-yl)amino)methyl)phosphonate as colorless solid.
