Procedure

To a solution of methyl 1-benzyl-4-((2,2,2-trifluoro-N-(trans-2-phenylcyclopropyl)acetamido)methyl)piperidine-4-carboxylate (68 mg, 0.143 mmol) in methanol (2 mL) was added sodium hydroxide (1M, 1 mL, 6.00 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 h. The mixture was purified using reverse-phase HPLC under the acidic conditions. The fractions containing the product were combined, treated with 1N HCl and concentrated. The residue was dried under vacuum to give 29 mg of product (HCl salt) as white solid. MS: (M+H)+=365.2. 1H NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ ppm 1.14-1.39 (m, 1H), 1.67 (br. s., 1H), 1.96-2.10 (m, 2H), 2.18-2.39 (m, 2H), 2.61-2.74 (m, 1H), 2.86-3.03 (m, 2H), 3.08-3.24 (m, 2H), 3.59 (br. s., 1H), 4.22-4.50 (m, 2H), 7.11-7.39 (m, 5H), 7.46 (br. s., 3H), 7.62 (m, 2H).
