Following a procedure similar to that described in Example 82(a), but using 730 mg of ethyl 2-acetoxymethyl-4-(1-hydroxy-1-methylethyl)imidazole-5-carboxylate [prepared as described in Preparation 48(iii)], 320 mg of potassium t-butoxide and 2.11 g of 4-[2-(trityltetrazol-5-yl)phenyl]benzyl bromide and then purifying the product by column chromatography through silica gel using a 2:1 by volume mixture of hexane and ethyl acetate, 1.23 g of the title compound were obtained as a foam-like solid.
