Compound 15 (1.23 g, 2.62 mmol) was dissolved in a 1:1 (vol:vol) mixture of CF3CO2H (TFA) and CH2Cl2 (45 mL). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure to give an oily residue which was triturated with Et2O to provide white solid 16 (31.505 g, 98% yield) (2 equiv TFA calculated on the basis of mass).
