Octanol was pre-equilibrated 24 h at RT with water, 0.1 M acetate buffer, pH 4.5 or 0.1 M phosphate buffer, pH 7.0. One μg of either BQC or BQC-G was added to a mixture of 250 μl octanol and 250 μl of one of the three water based pre-equilibrated solvents. After mixing for 24 h at RT, the samples were centrifuged 20 min at 10,000×g. Samples of the octanol and water layers were analyzed by HPLC.
