8-(2-Methanesulfonylethyl)-3-(4-nitrophenoxy)-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane Methyl vinyl sulfone (585.9 mg) was added to a solution of 3-(4-nitrophenoxy)-8-azabicyclo[3.2.1]octane (1.0 g) in methanol (3.7 ml) and heated at 60° C. for 12 h. The solvent was then removed in vacuo and the residue was taken up in ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate phase was washed with water and dried over sodium sulfate, and the solvent was removed in vacuo. The crude product was purified by column chromatography on silica gel (mobile phase: dichloromethane/methanol 9:1). The product with the molecular weight of 354.42 (C16H22N2O5S) was obtained in this way; MS (ESI): 355 (M+H+).
