A mixture of 4-[5-(4-methanesulfonyl-phenyl)-2,3-dihydro-benzofuran-2-yl]-piperidine hydrochloride (100 mg) and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (46 μl) in methanol (5 mL) is stirred for 10 min at room temperature. 1,1-Dimethyloxirane (34 μl) is added and the resulting mixture is heated to 45° C. After the conversion is complete, the solvents are evaporated in vacuo and the crude product is used for the next step without further purification. LC (method 1): tR=1.09 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=430 [M+H]+.
