Reaction Steps

To a solution of 1-(2-iodo-ethyl)-4-trifluoromethyl-benzene (7.51 g, 25.0 mmol), triethylamine (3.84 mL, 27.5 mmol) in THF (100 mL) was added p-nitrothiophenol (4.85 g, 25.0 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature for two days, diluted with EtOAc, washed with water, saturated NaHCO3, H2O, brine and dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. The compound was purified on silica gel (hexane-EtOAc) to give 7.24 g of a yellow solid.
