2-Chloronicotinoyl chloride (3.5 g) was added to a solution of 3-amino-2-bromo-6-methoxy-4-methylpyridine (4.5 g) in methylene chloride, and the resulting mixture was stirred overnight at room temperature, and triturated with diisopropyl ether. The precipitated solid was filtered to give 6.0 g of the title compound, suitable for use in the next reaction.
