1-(1H-Imidazol-2-ylmethyl)-2-thioxo-1,2,3,5-tetrahydro-pyrrolo[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-one Benzoyl isothiocyanate (0.19 mL, 1.41 mmol) was added to a stirred solution of ethyl 3-[(1H-imidazol-2-ylmethyl)amino]-1H-pyrrole-2-carboxylate (0.3 g, 1.28 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (4 mL) and methanol (2 mL) and the mixture was stirred at r.t. for 1 h. The solvent was evaporated in vacuo and the residue was dissolved in ammonia (7N in methanol, 7 mL) and heated at 80° C. for 1 h. The crude product was filtrated and purified by preparative HPLC, obtaining 0.110 g, (35%) of the title compound as a white solid.
