40 ml of a 1N aqueous solution of lithium hydroxide are added to a solution containing 11.0 g (33.3 mmol) of methyl (R)-2-(3-1H-imidazol-4-ylpropionylamino)-3-(4-methoxyphenyl)propanoate in 100 ml of THF. After stirring for 16 hours, the reaction medium is concentrated. The residue is purified by silica gel chromatography (eluent 70/30/1 dichloromethane/methanol/triethylamine). 8.4 g in the form of a white powder are obtained with a yield of 79%.
