Procedure
To a solution of 2.6 g (20 mmol) of 2-acetylpyridine hydrazone in 25 ml of CH3CN was added 3.6 g (20 mmol) of phenylisoselenocyanate. The clear red solution was heated with stirring to 45° C. for 3 hours, the solution was cooled to room temperature, and the crystals which separated were collected. Recrystallization of the product from EtOH gave 2.83 g (45%) of N-phenyl-2-[1-(2-pyridinyl)ethylidene]hydrazinecarboselenoamide as fine yellow needles, mp 153°-156° C.
