2.78 g (0.01 mol) of 2-hydroxy-3-[3-(1-piperidylmethyl)benzyloxy]propylamine in 10 ml of ethanol are slowly added dropwise to 1.70 g (0.01 mol) of 1,2-diethoxycyclobutene-3,4-dione and the mixture is stirred for 5 hours. The title compound, which is obtained after the reaction solution has been concentrated by evaporation, is subsequently reacted without further purification.
