Tert-butyl 3-((dimethylamino)methylene)-4-oxopiperidine-1-carboxylate (Example 32, Step A, 2.0 g) was reacted with 2-chlorophenyl hydrazine hydrochloride as described for Example 32, Step B to yield the title compound a as a yellow oil (1.39 g, 53%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 7.56-7.54 (m, 2H), 7.45-7.40 (m, 3H), 4.54 (s, 2H), 3.72 (br s, 2H), 2.58 (br s, 2H), 1.51 (s, 9H).
