Procedure
A solution of {1-methyl-3-[1-(toluene-4-sulfonyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-2-yl]-1H-indol-5-yl}-carbamic acid, tert-butyl ester [0.3 g, Reference Example 13(f)] in methanol (15 mL) was treated with potassium hydroxide solution (5N, 2 mL) then heated at reflux for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was evaporated and the residue triturated with water to give the title compound (0.2 g) as a tan solid. MS: 263 (MH+). TLC: RF=0.3 (ethyl acetate).
