Procedure
To a solution of 4-chloro-3-fluoro-2-iodo-quinoline (from step D, 0.3 g, 0.9 mmol) in toluene (5 mL) was added n-butanol (2 mL), water (3 mL) and cesium carbonate (1.14 g, 3.5 mmol). The resulting mixture was degassed for 5 min. and tetrakis(triphenyl-phosphine)palladium(0) (5 mg, 5 mol %) and 2-fluorophenyl boronic acid (0.286 g, 2 mmol) were added. The reaction mixture was heated to 50° C. for 24 h., after which it was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried and concentrated in a rotary evaporator. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography using ethyl acetate/hexane gradient to yield the title compound (0.160 g, 48%). MS (ES) 336.1 (M+H)+.
