3-(tert-Butoxycarbonyl-pyridin-3-yl-amino)-pyrazine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (364 mg, 1.1 mmol) was dissolved in 10 ml THF. 5 ml methanol, 5 ml water and lithium hydroxide hydrate (139 mg, 3.30 mmol) were added and stirred over night at room temperature. The organic solvent was evaporated and the residue was neutralized with 2N HCl-solution. The mixture was evaporated to dryness and used without further purification for the next step [(405 mg, >100%), MS: m/e=315.2 (M+H−)].
