Dissolve fumaric acid (59.41 g, 0.5118 mol) methanol/water (1900 mL, 1/1) by heating to 60° C. In a separate vessel dissolve 2-(4-chloro-phenyl)-5-[3-methoxy-4-(1-methyl-azetidin-3-yloxy)-phenyl]-5H-thiazolo[5,4-c]pyridin-4-one (200.0 g, 0.4406 mol) in methanol (2000 mL) and heat to 65° C. Add fumaric acid solution hot as quickly as possible. Allow the temperature to recover to 65° C. and hold for 15 min. Cool to 25° C. at 0.25° C./min and hold for one hour. Filter and wash the reactor twice with methanol (100 mL), and rinse the filter cake twice with methanol (250 mL) each. Dry under vacuum at 40° C. until constant weight to provide 223 g (89%) of the title compound.
