Following the procedure as described in Example 27, making variations as required to replace N-(1-benzylimidazolidin-2-ylidene)cyanamide with 2-benzyl-1,2,5-thiadiazolidine 1,1-dioxide to react with N-benzyl-2-bromo-4-methylthiazole-5-carboxamide, the title compound was obtained as a colorless solid in 78% yield: mp 135-137° C. (ethyl acetate/hexanes); 1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.37-7.26 (m, 10H), 5.99 (t, J=5.6 Hz, 1H), 4.55 (d, J=5.6 Hz, 2H), 4.25 (s, 2H), 4.00 (t, J=6.6 Hz, 2H), 3.39 (t, J=6.6 Hz, 2H), 2.57 (s, 3H); 13C NMR (75 MHz, CDCl3) δ 161.5, 156.6, 153.4, 137.7, 133.7, 128.9, 128.8, 128.6, 127.8, 127.7, 119.4, 51.4, 45.0, 44.1, 43.9, 17.3; MS (ES+) m/z 443.2 (M+1).
