Reaction Steps

To a solution of 5-bromo-3-[1-(ethylsulfonyl)-4-piperidinyl]-1H-indole-7-carboxamide (113 mg, 0.274 mmol) in dioxane (9.0 mL) and H2O (3.0 mL) was added sodium carbonate (174 mg, 1.64 mmol), and 6-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-4-carbaldehyde (150 mg, 0.547 mmol). The reaction mixture was flushed under Argon for 10 min before addition of tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (0) (16 mg, 0.014 mmol). The reaction was heated in a microwave at 120° C. for 30 min. All solvent was then concentrated and purified by flash chromatography using DCM and MeOH to give 120 mg of 3-[1-(ethylsulfonyl)-4-piperidinyl]-5-(4-formyl-2,3-dihydro-1-benzofuran-6-yl)-1H-indole-7-carboxamide (91%).
