2-(4-Methoxy-benzenesulfonyl)-5-phenyl-2-(3-phenyl-propyl)-pentanoic acid was prepared starting from 2-(4-methoxy-benzenesulfonyl)-5-phenyl-2-(3-phenyl-propyl)-pentanoic acid ethyl ester (2.0 g, 4 mmol) dissolved in methanol (50 ml) and 10 N NaOH (30 ml). The resulting reaction mixture was worked up as outlined in Example 9. Yield 1.18 g, 63%. Waxy solid; MS: 449.2 (M+H—H2O)+.
