A suspension of 2,3-dihydro-2,4,6,7-tetramethyl-2-[[4-[(3-phenyl-2-propenyl)oxy]-1-piperidinyl]methyl]-5-benzofuranamine (1.2 g) and 5% palladium on carbon (0.23 g) in tetrahydrofuran (10 mL) was stirred under hydrogen atmosphere at room temperature for 1 hour. The catalyst was then filtered off and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was crystallized from hexane to provide 0.36 g of the title compound. Yield 31%.
