Reaction Steps
In 1,2-dimethoxyethane(12 ml) were dissolved methyl 7-bromo-2,3-dihydro-1-benzoxepine-4-carboxylate (566 mg, 2.00 mmol) and 3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl borate (465 mg, 2.80 mmol). To the mixture were added sodium carbonate (424 mg, 4.00 mmol), water (2 ml) and tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium (162 mg, 0.14 mmol), and the mixture was stirred at 80° C. for 14 hours. To the mixture was added ethyl acetate (30 ml), and the mixture was extracted with water (5 ml×2) and saturated brine (5 ml). The organic layer was dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified with column chromatography (silica gel 15 g, ethyl acetate/hexane=1/19), and the desired fraction was concentrated under reduced pressure. To the residue was added diisopropylether, and the insoluble materials were filtered, which were washed with diisopropylether and dried under reduced pressure to give methyl 7-(3,4-methylenedioxyphenyl)-2,3-dihydro-1-benzoxepine-4-carboxylate (434 mg, 1.34 mmol, 67%).
