2-Benzyloxy-5-methoxy-6-bromo-benzo[de]isoquinoline-1,3-dione (0.5 g, 1.2 mmol, from Example Z) was reacted with morpholine (3 mL) in the presence of DBU (0.05 mL) following the procedure of Example 18 to give 0.25 g of 2-benzyloxy-5-methoxy-6-(morpholin-4-yl)-benzo[de]isoquinoline-1,3-dione. Hydrogenation of 2-benzyloxy-5-methoxy-6-(morpholin-4-yl)-benzo[de]isoquinoline-1,3-dione (0.25 g, 0.6 mmol) was performed as described in Example 18, to give 0.17 g of the title compound, mp 329-241° C.
