Reaction Steps
A solution of ethyl 2-ethoxy-4-[N-(1-(2-piperidino-phenyl)-1-butyl)-aminocarbonyl-methyl]-cinnamate (0.49 g, 1 mmol) in ethanol (10 ml) is stirred together with 1N sodium hydroxide solution (2 ml) for 3 days at ambient temperature. The mixture is then concentrated by evaporation in vacuo, water and a few drops of methanol are added to the evaporation residue and this is then adjusted to pH 6 with 1N acetic acid. The precipitate is filtered off, dried and recrystallised from ethyl acetate.
