Reaction Steps
10 g of 3-(2-fluorophenyl)-6-methoxy-1,2-benzisoxazole are dissolved in 400 ml of dry THF at -40° C. and treated with 21 ml of 2.2M n-butyllithium. After stirring for one hour, I2 (11.7 g) in 90 ml of ether is added. The reaction mixture is poured into Na2S2O3, then H2O. Drying and concentration gives 3-(2-fluorophenyl)-7-iodo-6-methoxy-1,2-benzisoxazole, mp 135°-138° C.
