Procedure

A solution of 0.035 g of (R)-1-O-[(2-chloroethyl)carbamoyl]-2-O-methyl-3-O-octadecylglycerine is treated with 5 ml of pyridine and heated at 80° C. for 3 days. The solution is evaporated and the residue is treated with toluene by azeotropic distillation. The residue is recrystallized from acetone. There is obtained 1-[2-[1-[(R)-2-methoxy-3-(octadecyloxy)propoxy]formamido]ethyl]pyridinium chloride of melting point 65° C. (dec.).
