10 ml of thionyl chloride were added all at once at 20° C. to a solution of 4.5 g of the product of Step C in 20 ml of methylene chloride and the mixture was stirred for 105 minutes and was evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure to obtain 4.7 g of (S)α-cyano-3-phenoxy-4-fluorobenzyl(1R,cis,Z)2,2-dimethyl-3-[3-oxo-3-chloro-1-propenyl]cyclopropane-carboxylate.
