Participants
| Role | Name | HCID | Charge |
|---|---|---|---|
| Reactant | Eicosanoic Acid | HCID 10467 | — |
| Solvent | Chloroform | HCID 6212 | — |
| Product | Stearic Acid | HCID 5281 | — |
Reaction Steps
Subsequently, a solution (0.5 ml) of arachidic acid (1×10-3 mol/l) in chloroform was spread on the aforesaid aqueous phase. After removal of chloroform from the surface of the aqueous phase by evaporation, the surface pressure of the aqueous phase was adjusted to 30 dyne/cm, and a film of stearic acid was formed thereon.
