To a solution of 2-(methylsulfanyl)-3-[4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)phenyl]-5,6-dihydropyrido[2,3-d]pyrimidine-4,7(3H,8H)-dione (2.1 g) in acetic acid (40 mL) was added a solution of oxone (registered mark) (4.02 g) in water (8 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hr, water was added thereto, and the precipitate was collected by filtration to give the title compound (1.68 g).
