Reaction Steps
To a solution of Intermediate 25 (240 mg, 0.46 mmol) in THF (3 mL), was added MeOH (3 mL) followed by lithium hydroxide (3M in water, 200 μL, 0.6 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at RT for 2 hours, and then the volatiles were removed in vacuo. The resultant residue was dissolved in water, and the solution thus obtained was made acidic by addition of 6 N HCl and extracted with EtOAc. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated in vacuo to yield the title compound as a colourless oil (250 mg).
