To a solution of 5-Benzyloxy-2-(3-hydroxy-prop-1-ynyl)-benzoic acid methyl ester (80 g, 270 mmol) in DCM (1.5 L) was added imidazole (36.8 g, 540 mmol) and TBSCl (61 g, 405 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was washed with water, brine, dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated to dryness. The residue was purified by chromatography column on silica gel to afford title product (90 g, 81%).
