To a solution of (2S,3R,4R,5S,6R)-2-(4-chloro-3-(3,4-dihydroxybenzyl)phenyl)-6-(hydroxymethyl)-tetrahydro-2H-pyran-3,4,5-triol (E055) (30 mg, 0.0756 mmole) in DMF (4 mL) were added K2CO3 and CH2I2 (7.3 μL). The reaction mixture was stirred at 100° C. overnight and filtered. The resulting crude solution was purified by reverse phase preparative HPLC to yield the title compound (16 mg, 0.0401 mmole, 53%) as a brown gum.
