Reaction Steps
A mixture of 15 parts of 4-(isothiocyanatomethyl)pyridine, 9.5 parts of 2-aminophenol and 160 parts of acetonitrile was stirred for 3 hours at room temperature. The precipitated product was filtered off, washed with 2,2'-oxybispropane and crystallized from acetonitrile, yielding 8.22 parts of N-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-N'-(4-pyridinylmethyl)thiourea; mp. 179.6° C. (intermediate 73).
