Procedure
A solution of (cis)-1-[2-(dimethylamino)ethyl]-1,3,4,5-tetrahydro-4-(4-methoxyphenyl)-3-(2-propenyl)-2H-1-benzazepin-2-one, monohydrochloride (1.5 g, 3.62 mmol; see Example 16) containing a 10% palladium on charcoal suspension (0.15 g, 10% b/w) was hydrogenated overnight at 1 atmosphere. The suspension was filtered through a Celite pad and evaporated in vacuo to yield 1.47 g of a white solid, melting point 178°-180° C., dec.
