Reaction Steps

A solution of 0.010 gm (0.044 mMol) 5-amino-3-(1-methylpiperidin-4-yl)pyrrolo[3,2-b]pyridine in 1.0 mL pyridine was heated to 50° C. To this solution were then added 0.0064 mL (0.048 mMol) cyclohexanecarbonyl chloride and the reaction mixture stirred for 1 hour. The reaction mixture is concentrated under reduced pressure and a solution of the residue in methanol passed over a VARIAN BOND ELUT SCX™ (Varian, Harbor City, Calif., U.S.A.) ion exchange column which had been preactivated with 10% acetic acid in methanol. The column was washed thoroughly with methanol and then the desired product eluted with 2M ammonia in methanol. Fractions containing product were combined and concentrated under reduced pressure to provide 0.013 gm (87.2%) of the title compound.
