(R-2-(N-((2R)-2-Amino-3-(2-naphthyl)propyl)-N-chloroacetylamino)-N-methyl-3-phenylpropionamide. ##STR100## ((1R)-1-((N-Chloroacetyl-N-((1R)-1-(methylcarbamoyl)-2-phenylethyl)amino)methyl)-2-(2-naphthyl)ethyl)carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (0.56 g, 1.04 mmol) was dissolved in a mixture of trifluoroacetic acid (4 ml) and methylene chloride (4 ml) and stirred for 40 min. The solvent was removed in vacuo and methylene chloride was added and removed in vacuo (3×10 ml) to afford 0.69 g of (2R)-2-(N-((2R)-2-amino-3-(2-naphthyl)propyl)-N-chloroacetylamino)-N-methyl-3-phenylpropionamide as a trifluoroacetate.
